If i were an angel
I'd watch as the sun rose high and hear the music it brings
I'd be in the wind and low through the trees and grass
I'd taste the nectar in the flowers and see their true colours

As the old return home and the new enter this life
I will be there to watch it all
I'd know them, I'd have watched Him form them
And I'd help them find their way back home

I'd be with the rain, as it cleanses the earth
I'd feel the joy the plants feel, the soil
Pulling them up as they sprout from the ground
Bloom alongside them, yell His Greatness

Breathe given to the breathless
A second chance to those wirh no hope
I'd be there watching as they cry out for help
Sometimes not knowing who they're crying out to

If I were an angel
I'll be there with you as you sleep
I'd hold your hand, even if you can't feel me
I'd smell you, even if you'd just have sweet dreams

I'd have the memories you've forgotten, kept in my mind
I'd have your scars and good moments on track
I'd have all the things that make you up
But not enough, to touch

If I were an angel, I'd learn to fly
Not away, but towards the sky
To embrace the warmth of an unearthly source
An instrument of some sort
To the setting of the sun
